Ingeneers Network, and Australian engineers in general, received some extra attention in the media last Thursday when an opinion piece written by the administrator was published in The Age.
The piece titled 'Lost art of pulling it apart engineers an Aussie tech wreck' represents one of the few pieces in the mainstream media that specifically deals with the importance of engineering to the Australian economy and the need for the community to take an interest in the development of Australia's engineering capability.
The piece itself not only promoted the network, but it also resonated with many readers. There were 19 comments made before comments were closed and a number of emails sent to the author. It also resulted in a surge in the number of members.
All this iterates the desire within the engineering community for a stronger sense of unity and the need to communicate the importance of engineering to the rest of the community. These are two goals of Ingeneers Network and it is good to see that it is something that people want.
